Tripod C.V. Joints have no any balls inside, but three needle roller bearings instead which can slip in the three orbits of bell housing.
Tripod C.V. Joints were invented in 1983, and mostly used in FWD model cars. As inner C.V. Joint, it is applied to the situation which has not large degree of torque angle. It can slip inward and outward, in order to adapt to the length variation of drive shafts when vehicle motion.
